Arroyo Grande CA has a population of about 16,000 people according to the 2000 census. Located in the Five Cities area along with Pismo Beach, Grover Beach, Shell Beach and Oceano, Arroyo Grande CA is less tourist-oriented than the rest. However, it's near the ocean and has plenty of things to do. For those who like to be outdoors, Arroyo Grande CA is the gatway to Lopez Lake, a beautiful state park about 10 miles from the town.
